Sooooooooooooo...About that Fun Photoshoot
Last year, at least five different people from various industries asked me for headshots or promotional pics. I sent them instagram selfies. I realized I never really got around to talking pics of myself that could be classified as “professional” although, I think my iphone does a pretty good job. But I knew if I was going to be a published author, or even a filmmaker, I had to step my game up.
Now, I have plenty of friends that are photographers, awesome ones too, but for this particular shoot, I had pictures in mind and felt they were a little too...personal. As crazy as it sounds, I do care what my friends think, so I wanted to be able to let my guard down without worrying about being judged and take photos with someone I trusted but doesn't know me 100% or isn't trying to get into my pants.
Enter Omar from omegaimagery.com. We've travelled in the same friend circles for years but we weren't close (i.e he didn't know my Mommy's name. It's Mom, btw). But I knew he had a great eye and awesome sense of humor, so I felt comfortable approaching him with the ideas. The end results after a full day of shooting with only a few insecure panic attack moments on my part, came out amazing! I clean up nice when I feel like it.

Soooo...about the First Page.
Back in the good old days of bookstores, people would pick up physical copies of books, usually drawn to it by a dope cover, then would proceed to read the first page, to judge if they'd liked it or not. Hard to do with an e-book. To help you guys out, here's the preface to MISCONCEPTIONS, an excerpt out of Alex's journal. Enjoy!
Dear Me,
According to the undeniably accurate resource that is Wikipedia, 54% of all pregnancies are unplanned and unexpected. A whopping 15% of those pregnancies arise despite the “proper” use of preventative measures, such as condoms and other forms of birth control. Condoms have a 95% effective rate against pregnancy; the patch a 98% effective rate. If used together a less than 5% chance of conceiving.Further, there have only been twenty-two accounted cases of quadruplet births in North America. Only four of those were conceived without the use of fertility treatments, a probability of 1 out of 800,000 plus pregnancies. Thus, the probability of conceiving minus the unlikelihood of multiples equals my chances of becoming pregnant with quadruplets with the world’s biggest asshole falling into the 0.000001 percentile, a one in one trillion gazillion chance.
Congratulations! You are now a statistic! You win your very own Wikipedia page as your pregnancy rates second to the Immaculate Conception.
Love,
The Virgin Mary

Soooooooo...I Published A Book!
May I present to you, Misconceptions...now available on Amazon.com

I’m exhausted and financially depleted, but I’ve never been prouder. This book has gone through some changes, been in the hands of agents and editors who doubted it. The publishing industry is stuck in some type of neverending Twilight Zone episode where the professionals have no idea what to make of it or where it’s going. But I refuse to let the fear of the unknown dictate my life. I refuse to shelf this project. So I’m taking a leap of faith. Let’s see what happens!!

Sooooooooo... About Blu
Some of you actually like know me KNOW me, and may be wondering what’s up with this Blu heffa. I have to give a quick explanation for Blu.
1) My book has sex in it. It’s not ecrotica, but it’s enough to make me squirm a little at the thought of my parents reading it.
2) I write in two separate genres, meaning I cater to two different audiences. Some women out there are not interested in the more dark/edgy novels I write or the horror films I make. Some are simply interested in reading about boys, love, sex, relationships, and happily ever afters.
(On another note: It's hard having split personalities. I don't know how Kanye does it.)

3) Beyonce has several alter egos. I’m allowed one Got damn it! I do what I want!
So let Blu be Blu, and me be me. With that being said, let me dance!!
| No seriously, this is totally my happy dance. |

Sooooo...Welcome!
Welcome to my blog! My name is Blu (yes that ‘e’ got lost somewhere or something). This is just something simple to talk about my new upcoming projects. Self publishing and writing is crazy time consuming. So I’ll try to keep this up!! In the meantime, let us pay tribute to the first Blu. :-)
